Are Trials An Indication of God’s Love?
Q: If someone isn’t going through trials, does that mean God doesn’t love them?
A: If you’re not going through trials, just wait; they’re on their way. One of the more unpopular promises that Jesus made is John 16:33 – “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
That’s a promise from Jesus. Dear believer, you will have tribulation. You’re going to have trials. You’re going to have difficulty in the world. You will have tribulation. If you don’t have it now, praise the Lord. Just enjoy this time. Draw close to the Lord. Don’t let a current season of prosperity or blessing or success make you cold or hardened towards the Lord. Keep seeking Him.
But I can assure you that trials are on the way. I don’t say that in a mean or fatalistic way. Jesus said that, “In the world, you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world.” That’s a beautiful promise. If you’re in a season of blessing, enjoy it, but don’t be caught by surprise if trials are down the road.
