How Can I Explain The Gospel To My Hindu Friend?
Q: I have a question about witnessing to my friend who is a Hindu. I posted a quote about how Christianity is different from other religions because we don’t try to earn God’s love by being good. My friend asked me a lot of questions after I posted that. She didn’t understand how my religion could be more right than hers. She believes that all religions guide us to good. How can I help her understand that the Bible is true and Jesus is the only way to heaven? Any suggestion on resources to read or look up? I’ve shared the gospel with her before.
A: God bless you that you shared the gospel with your Hindu friend, and God bless you that you care about how to reach her. This is a wonderful thing that you’re doing. May God bless you in reaching your Hindu friend, to be able to reach her, and to take away the veil on her heart that blinds her from seeing the gospel.
So, what can you do? Keep pointing her repeatedly to the person and work of Jesus Christ. Just bring her Jesus. Tell her Jesus stories. Tell her stories about what Jesus does in the Gospels. Tell her about the things that Jesus has done in your life. Tell her again and again what the Bible says about Jesus. Bring Jesus before her again and again and again. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. That’s what she needs.
While there may be some superficial similarity between Jesus and some of the Hindu gods, please know that it’s only superficial. As she gets to know Jesus at all, she’ll find out how unique and wonderful Jesus is. The fundamental difference in Christianity is Jesus Himself. God bless you with that effort. Emphasize Jesus and do it again and again.
