What Age Will We Be In Heaven?

Q: Given that there is no time in eternity, what age do you think we will be in heaven?

A: First of all, let me correct something. I don’t think it’s fair to say that there’s no time in eternity. The glimpses of eternity in the heavenly realm that we see in the Scriptures give some time indicators. Revelation 8:1 mentions a 30-minute period of silence in heaven. Other sequential things happen. Therefore, I don’t think it’s entirely fair to say that there is notime in heaven or eternity. But it is fair to say that time is different. It’s just different in a way that we can’t comprehend. Maybe eternity is not governed by time in the same way as our temporal age, but we can’t say that there’s no time in Heaven.

So, what age will we be in heaven? Gayle Erwin, a blessed man who went home to be with the Lord last year, had a favorite answer that question. He said, “I know exactly how old we’re all going to be in heaven. We’re all going to be 10 years old.” His stance was that the best and most joyful time of your life is when you’re about 10 years old, so he pictured heaven being filled with 10-year-olds running around. Now, I don’t know if I believe that, but I don’t know if I could disprove it either. Ultimately, there is no firm answer to that question in the Bible.
