How Can I Love Difficult People?
To love people who are difficult to love, we need to rely on Jesus. You know that you’re not the most loving person in the world, for sure, but as a believer, you also know that the most loving person who ever lived, Jesus Christ, lives inside of you. If you are born again by God’s Spirit, Christ is in you, the hope of glory. So, instead of trying to work up a feeling or an emotion of love in your life, just try to do good in Jesus’ name for somebody else, and don’t worry about the feelings. Ask the Lord to help you love this person in whatever way you can, to want to do good for them, and to want to bring blessing into their life instead of cursing. That’s how you can love them.
But remember, if you only love the people who are easy to love, what good is that? Jesus said that it’s easy to love the people who love you back; everybody does that. But the mark of the Christian is that they can love those who hate them.
