Do Modern-Day Christians Experience Dreams And Visions From God?
Q: Are Christians today still experiencing dreams and visions from God, including testimonies of people converting from Islam through such experiences?
A: I believe it’s possible that God could communicate to people today through dreams and visions. But I will caution you with this. In the Bible, God speaks to unbelievers by dreams far more than He speaks to believers. In other words, for those who are God’s people, He doesn’t need dreams to speak to them. He’ll speak to them through His word. God can communicate to His people in other ways.
So, if you’re a believer, I don’t know that you should be seeking for God to speak to you in a dream or vision. Now, is it possible that He could? Look, God is sovereign. It is possible for God to do such things, and I do believe there is strong evidence that God has been reaching the Islamic world in particular in a dramatic way through dreams and visions, which compel people to go and speak to a pastor or leading believer and to read the Bible. Ultimately these visions prepare these people to put their trust in Jesus Christ. So yes, I do believe that it’s definitely possible for God to speak to believers through dreams and visions. However, more often than not, when God speaks through a dream or vision today, it’s to an unbeliever more often than to a believer.
