What Is Your Take On A Python Spirit And A Leviathan Spirit?
Q: I've heard pastors talk about or seen books about a python and Leviathan spirit. What's your take on it?
A: I really don't know anything about a python spirit. I don't know the relevance or the biblical connection with a python.
However, I will say this: Leviathan is a creature mentioned in the Bible. From looking at references to Leviathan in Job, Psalms, and also in Isaiah, it is difficult to determine whether these are purely symbolic beings. They may be taking imagery from some of the pagan thought and religion around them and co-opting it to show how God triumphs over them. Alternatively, it could refer to some ancient creature that may have become extinct.
Whenever you hear people talking about this kind of spirit or that kind of spirit, it makes me want to pump the brakes. Honestly, I don't know what possible relevance a Leviathan spirit would have for the church today. Leviathan is simply a representation of evil and sometimes of Satan himself. I don't see the difference between saying a Leviathan spirit and an evil spirit. To me, it just makes my cautious antenna go up automatically.
We need to walk in wisdom when it comes to spiritual warfare. There seems to be too much interaction with the demonic in what's classically known as the deliverance ministry. Asking questions of demons is problematic because they are liars. Why would you trust anything that they say?
