What Is God’s Plan for 2026?

Seven Things God Will Do in 2026

  1. God will rule and reign over the affairs of men.

In Revelation 1:8, Jesus introduced Himself as He who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty. He is the Almighty, the pantokrator, the One “who has His hand on everything.”

It’s going to be a wild ride in 2026. The United States and much of the world is deeply divided politically, and in many ways culturally. There is economic uncertainty, and since 2026 is a year of congressional elections, it will be intense politically in the US. Yet, God will continue to rule and reign over the affairs of men.

  1. God will continue to be faithful to His people.

Lamentation 3:22-23

Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.

  1. God will work in and through His obedient people for the gospel to go forth.

Matthew 28:19-20

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you

  1. God will keep on overcoming the world. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. (John 16:33)

  2. God will work in and through His obedient people to grow in discipleship and holiness.

  3. God will rejoice over every lost sinner who is found.

  4. Hopefully Jesus will return for His people this year.

The Bible teaches us that believers should live in ready anticipation of the return of Jesus Christ. Not fanaticism, not date-setting, not crazed obsession – but ready anticipation.

For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ (Philippians 3:20)

Looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus (Titus 2:13)

So Christ…will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him.(Hebrews 9:28)

No wonder the word Maranatha! (1 Corinthians 16:22) was a watchword for early Christians.

So, we have no dates to set. But here’s what I believe: the Bible describes what the world will be like in the very last days. It describes the condition of the world spiritually, politically, economically, spiritually, and morally. As I look around at the world today, I see the stage set for Christ’s return. That doesn’t mean that God couldn’t leave the “stage set” for another 100 years. It’s also true that things could profoundly change and we could come back to this “set stage” at a much later point. Those things are definitely possible. But as I look at this “set stage” world, I think believers should be ready.

Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not expect Him. (Matthew 24:44)

Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. (1 Thessalonians 5:6)

Yes, it’s possible to hold the idea of the return of Jesus in a weird or fanatical way. So, don’t do that! But live in a proper readiness and expectation of His return.
